If you notice on the right side of this website, you will see a new feature. Look under the picture and the email subscription box. There you will find a feature called “Daily Scripture Reading.”
The current date will always be listed. Click on the date and you will be directed to a link from Sojourn Community Church.
You will then be given 4 links to a Bible passage on a normal day. The first link will be for the primary passage in the current journey through the Old Testament. The second link will be for a passage in the Psalms. The third will be for a short portion from Proverbs.
Click on one of the links for the Bible passage. You will be directed to that Scripture reading in the ESV (English Standard Version) Bible. There is even a link at the top of that page that will allow you to listen to the text as you read along.

Do this for all of the passages. It will allow you to spend a few moments reading, listening and reflecting on God’s word.
You can return to original devotional page and read a devotional thought on what you just read. Each week at the bottom of that page a prayer, helpful thoughts and a benediction are provided.
In this morning’s passage in Job, I found great encouragement. Job laments the trials in which he finds himself. His friends are there to comfort him, but they only bring him more grief. In the midst of his groanings, he cries out,
For I know that my Redeemer lives,
and at the last he will stand upon the earth.
And after my skin has been thus destroyed,
yet in my flesh I shall see God,
whom I shall see for myself,
and my eyes shall behold, and not another.
My heart faints within me!
– Job 19:25-27
At present Job could only see pain and sorrow. He endured because he was confident that he would eventually see God.
Let me know if you might use this new devotional tool. I would love to hear your thoughts.
