Current times have witnessed an explosion of talk and merchandise relating to angels. Much of the talk and almost all of the merchandise portrays angels in a manner quite different from the reality taught in the Bible. David Jeremiah has given us a relevant book on the subject which is based on and faithful to the teaching of the Bible.
Jeremiah is the Senior Pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church in San Diego and the voice of Turning Point Ministries. The subtitle of the book provides the scope of study, “Who They Are and How They Help…What the Bible Reveals.”
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The early chapters include a guided tour allowing readers to glimpse upon angelic scenes throughout history. This narrative section is incredibly well written. It is an unique manner in which to survey biblical theology. This narrative is gripping drama with helping teaching. This section alone is worth the price of the book.
Jeremiah’s stated aim of the book is that the reader might draw closer to God. He clearly handles the extremes of studying angels. On the one hand, some will simply deny the existence and/or work of angels. On the other hand, an unhealthy fascination exists that is not God focused.
We are warned to keep our study and thoughts about angels within certain parameters. They are:
- We must never create or reshape angels according to our own fancy.
- Never let angels replace God in our lives.
- Angels must never receive our worship.
After all of the helpful study, we are left with a wonder and amazement of the God who has created both angels and humans. You definitely should get a copy of this book. Once you get a copy, read it and study it. You may order your book by clicking on the book image or by using clicking here.
