* The Reform of First Baptist Church of Durham

This account of God’s work in this historic church is told by the pastor, Andrew Davis.  Andy and I studied together in doctoral church history courses at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary back in the day.  I recall the first time I met Andy.  We were seated next to each other in a seminar on Martin Luther led by Dr. Marvin Anderson.  Few people do I respect as much as I do Andy.  Seldom have I been around somebody with a great combination of a scholarly mind with a deep devotion to the Lord.  I love his views on the church and the role of the pastor.  You would do well to regularly listen to his sermons at the website of First Baptist Church.

I will be returning to the workplace this coming week.  Being hospitalized was not the plan I had for getting a break, but things not in my plans have been frequent of late.  Suzie will be having surgery the day after I return to work.  She will get her unplanned break from work.  During this time I have had time to spend with the Lord, and that is always good.  Suzie and I have had time to be with each other, and that is good.
