One of the things that frustrates me about the Christian community is our proclivity to cycle and recycle baseless rumors on the internet. This happens on Facebook. It happens via email. At times I have tried to clear up these rumors, but usually I feel helpless in this endeavor. For some it must be true if they read it on-line. Favorite rumor topics are government restrictions on Christian liberty and the identity of the anti-Christ. Favorite rumor subjects are Obama, Pelosi and any other Democrat.
At Stuff Christians Like, Jonathan Acuff offers up seven indications that what you are reading may be a rumor with no basis in truth. I encourage Christians to read this, especially those of you who seem to believe these rumors and double especially if you spread these rumors. You know who you are.
Chances are, if thousands of gospel programs are going to be instantly removed from both radio and television, the first time you hear of this won’t be in an email from your friend “BillKingBeliever777.”
