Our pastor, Dr. Buz McNutt recently began a preaching series through the book of Daniel. This past Sunday he related the cultural situation of Daniel to that which we experience today in America.
Daniel was deported from his native land to live in a foreign land. In this land, the people worshipped a multitude of gods.In today’s America we find ourselves increasingly living in a religiously pluralistic land.
How should we respond? Where do we draw lines in the sand and where do we not?
Buz provided three principles taken from the encounters of Daniel. He is spot on. Especially in this political season, I hope that evangelicals will take to heart how God used Daniel in a religiously pluralistic land.
Here are the principles:
1. On neutral issues that do not effect the gospel – obey.
2. On non-essential issues – make appeals for what is right, but obey if appeals are not heeded.
3. On essential issues – humbly stand for God even if it means civil disobedience.
