Suzie and I attended the home opener for the University of Miami versus Marshall in The Orange Bowl. Miami won, but hardly looked like a top NCAA team. It was the head coaching debut of Randy Shannon. I think he will move them in the right direction. The real fun was wearing our Oklahoma Sooner gear to the game since Miami travels to Norman next week to experience their first loss of the year.
Miami fans had plenty to say about our attendance as OU fans. However, they were generally much more polite and respectful than I experienced back in the 80’s.
This is the final season for the Hurricanes in the Orange Bowl. The stadium has seen better days. 39,000 fans attended with plenty of empty seats. In fact, we walked up and bought 2 good tickets at the ticket booth just before kick-off.
