Morning-after pills available at 13 NYC schools

September 25, 2012

The New York City Department of Education is making the morning-after-pill available to high school girls at 13 public schools.

The DOE says girls as young as 14 will be able to get the Plan B emergency contraception without parental consent.

Consider these self reported statistics by the New York City Department of Education.

7,000 girls get pregnant by the time they are 17.

More than half of these end the pregnancy by abortion.

The most telling part of this story is at the end of the article. New York City schools already distribute free condoms.

Apparently that strategy isn’t working.
